A fantastic Friday night display under the lights of Hisense Stadium sees South Adelaide defeat West Adelaide by ten goals.

"It's always nice to get back into the winners circle, we had a disappointing loss last week with a golden opportunity to consolidate a top four position" said Head Coach Jarrad Wright post-match.

"But we had a really good week on the track this week, the boys really understand what our method is and what our brand is, and I certainly thought they executed that tonight" he said.

The boys in the blue and white certainly bounced back from their disappointing loss the previous week thanks to a dominant 17.13 (115) to 8.7 (55) win which was built on the back of an eleven to four goal second half.

Impressive for the Panthers was Joe Haines who had 27 touches and eight marks, while Joel Cross finished with 26 touches and three goals, and Ben Heaslip collected 20 touches and six tackles.

But the opening term was a far-cry from the eventual resultas the Bloods booted the first goal of the match after just two minutes of play.

The Panthers came close to responding early, and even struck the post on one occasion, but after repeated inside 50s the Bloods managed to go end to end and score a goal against the flow of play.

The home-side came close to scoring on a third occasion and would have if it wasn't for a strong tackle by Haines.

But while the Panthers remained strong on the defensive end, their offence struggled to battle against the Bloods' flood.

That was until Eamon Wilkinson kicked truly at the twentieth minute mark to register the Panthers first of the match, and the side entered the first break facing a narrow 1.5 (11) to 2.1 (13) deficit.

The Bloods would open the scoring for the second term, to which Wilkinson was able to respond to with his second goal of the day thanks to an assist by Beau McCreery.

Continuing on with this newfound momentum, the Panthers were able to clear it out of the centre and after some clever footwork by Alex Cailotto, they fired it deep into forward 50 where Paul Hunter did some roving of his own to collect and snap a goal to hand South Adelaide the lead.

The Panthers began to put immense forward pressure on the Bloods' defence, and after countless inside 50s, Ben Haren's quick kick inside 50 found Jason Horne whose diving mark allowed him to go back and further extend South's lead.

With the combined efforts of Sam Overall and Broadbent, the Panthers once again forced a turnover up-forwardand this time it was finished off nicely by Reece Milsom.

Then, with the second quarter well into stoppage-time, the Panthers were able to go end to end before finding McCreery who proved to be too fast for his opponent as he got out the back and scored to hand South a promising 6.8 (44) to 4.3 (27) lead at the main break.

The Panthers continued to make the most of their momentum during the third term as the boys in the blue and white piled on three unanswered goals within the opening seven minutes two of which were kicked by Nic Schwarz.

This early third-term blitz would set the tone for the remainder of the quarter, and by the time Hayden Sampson's kick would cross the goal line during the dying minutes of the quarter the Panthers held a seven-goal lead.

But to the Bloods credit they refused to roll over, and even opened the scoring during the final term with a goal against the flow of play.

But this goal allowed for perhaps the most fitting play of the day, as Hunter collected it out of the centre and handpassed it to his Williamstown teammate Daly Andrews who kicked truly on the run.

Finishing off the game strongly, Cross managed two final term goals while a clever tap to Overall saw him run in and claim his first of the day and when all was said and done, the Panthers held a 17.13 (115) to 8.7 (55) when the final siren sounded.

A win over Norwood will guarantee the Panthers a finals spot, and this must-win clash is set to take place at Flinders University on Saturday September 19, from 1:45pm.
