South Adelaide's Under-16s took down the Redlegs on Thursday night.

The boys were excited to head out to The Parade on Easter Thursday and face a Norwood side that were having a strong year and sat just below us on the ladder.

The boys started positively with Reynella big man Tom Schirmer getting some early ruck advantage to give the midfield first use.

After a couple of wasted forward entries livewire Benny Barrett kicked truly to hand us our first goal.

When Jack Delean kicked his first we had gotten off to a strong start and had a 2 goal buffer.

Norwood continued to work hard and kicked 2 majors for the quarter but further goals to Delean and athletic tall Sebastion Oliver had us enter the break 13 points up.

The 2nd quarter we picked up where we left off and just showed a strong work rate to keep grinding away.

Tom Wheaton was having an impact around the stoppage while Sid Draper (15 touches & 5 tackles) continued his consistent year.

Pheonix Hargrave kicked an early goal and when Barrett managed 2 inside 2 minutes we had skipped out to a 5 goal buffer.

The Redlegs would continue to challenge but our defence held up well with Ryan Pearsons and Nick Schroder showing the way.

When Hargrave goaled early in the third quarter for his 3rd for the evening it was a 6 goal buffer.

We knew Norwood were a good side and would keep coming at us which they did as they brought the margin back to around 4 goals.

The group responded well though with Jace Daris and Blake Rodrigues winning some ball in the midfield and goals to Isaac Churchill as well as skipper Wheaton restored the lead.

At the last break we headed in 47 points in front.

A decent crowd had begun to build due to the following league match and was great to see the boys have an opportunity to play their trade in front of a crowd.

They showed they enjoyed it and ran out eventual 59 point winners.

Wheaton again performed well touching it 25 times while taking 11 marks.

Hargrave booted 3 goals as did Barrett and Delean.

Pearsons was lively from the back half with 17 disposals while tall Schirmer and Oliver both had an impact.

This Saturday we take on North Adelaide at home as we look to secure a top 4 spot.
