150 Year Book Launched
Panthers Launch 150 Year Book The Grand Old Blue and White
On Friday afternoon, during the club’s official 150 year celebration match, the Panthers proudly launched their commemorative book, The Grand Old Blue and White.
The book has been written by Heritage Committee Chair David Kelly, alongside Randal Williams, Jack White, Craig Pett, Peter Alexander, Denis Heath, Chris Haines, Peter Kiley and Jonathon Parker, with expert assistance from Mike Sexton. After six years of dedicated work, the group has carefully pieced together the rich and detailed history of the South Adelaide Football Club.
The publication traces the club’s journey from its formation and early years, through periods of adversity, and highlights the many individuals who have left a lasting impact along the way.
Spanning 415 pages, the book features rare photographs, stories from the earliest days of South Australian football, and a wealth of memories celebrating the players and personalities who have shaped the club into what it is today.
The book was officially launched at Friday’s cocktail function, where South Adelaide CEO Neill Sharpe acknowledged the efforts of the committee.
“It has been a long journey for the committee, and they have produced an incredible piece of work that documents and showcases the rich history of the South Adelaide Football Club.” Sharpe said.
“On what was a special day for the club, it was only fitting to launch the book. It is now available for purchase through the club’s website, at reception during the week, or at the merchandise stall on game days.”
Heritage Committee Chair David Kelly also expressed his pride in the finished product.
“It has been a significant effort from everyone involved, and I thank the committee and all contributors for helping create something so special for the football club.” Kelly said.
“If you have not had the chance to see it yet, make sure you do. It is a must have for any true Southee and all football followers in general”
The Grand Old Blue and White is now available online via the club’s website here, at the club reception, and on home game days at Magain Stadium.
The club is currently fulfilling pre-orders of hard copies. Once this process is complete, any remaining stock will be made available for purchase.
