Jake Summerton to Leader the Panthers in 2023.

The South Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce that Jake Summerton will lead the South Adelaide Football Club in the 2023 Hostplus SANFL League Season. 

Summerton was voted as captain through a leadership process involving the team’s senior players where it was established that Summerton upholds the core values of the group. 

The senior program has been working with the Four Quarter Leadership Program run by former Geelong Premiership player James Podsiadly. 

Summerton said that he is "grateful and humbled" to be voted as captain. 

"I have been lucky enough to play under some amazing leaders and learn from them all along the way, which will put me in good stead to lead the club along with this leadership group." Said Jake Summerton.

"I look forward to continuing to build this amazing culture, connecting the whole SAFC community to achieve what we deserve."

"The training standards so far during this pre-season are the best I have seen since being at the club."

"The recruits have fit in really well and have brought an extra edge to training and performance."

Matthew Broadbent has been named Vice-Captain and will be joined by Ben Heaslip, Eamon Wilkinson, Sam Skinner and Oscar Clavarino in the 2023 Leadership group. 

Senior Coach Jarrad Wright is excited for what the leaders will bring in 2023. 

"It's a proud moment for me to see Jake voted in as skipper." said Senior Coach Jarrad Wright. 

"Jake and I go a long way back, we were both at the Eagles when I first coached him."
