2026 Leaders
Oscar Clavarino to Lead South Adelaide in Their 150th Year
The South Adelaide Football Club is proud to announce Oscar Clavarino as Captain for 2026, with 2025 Knuckey Cup winner Ollie Davis appointed Vice Captain.
As part of a revised leadership structure, the Panthers will operate with a Captain and Vice Captain only in 2026.
Following discussions with the club, 2025 Co-Captain Sam Skinner has chosen to step down from the role to focus on his football and family commitments.
Senior Coach Jarrad Wright said the decision was in the best interests of both the player and the team.
“The decision for Sam to hand over the captaincy to Oscar reflects what’s right for both the team and Sam at this stage,” Wright said.
“After starting a family midway through last year, relieving himself of the formal responsibilities allows him to prioritise family, while still contributing strongly on field. Sam remains a natural leader whose competitiveness and standards will continue to drive the group.”
Incoming skipper Oscar Clavarino said he was honoured to be entrusted with the role and excited about the season ahead.
“To be named the captain at South Adelaide is an absolute privilege.” Clavarino said.
“I’ve loved my time at the Panthers which is a club full of great people, so to be given the opportunity to lead this group from the front will be an honour and a challenge I very much look forward to.”
Wright said he is eager to see Clavarino continue his growth in the leadership space.
“In the past 18 months, Oscar has taken significant strides in his leadership.” Wright said.
“His fierce competitiveness and drive to win are clear strengths on game day, and off the field his ability to connect with teammates has strengthened the unity and culture of the group.”
“We have developed our leaders under terrific leadership from Jake and Sam, but its now time for the next phase of performance and Oscar is the clear leader ready to take the group forward.”
Ollie Davis, who has been part of the leadership group for the past two seasons, continues his progression with his appointment as Vice Captain.
“Ollie’s leadership continues to develop each day and is clearly reflected in his consistent performances over recent seasons,” Wright said.
“His ferocity and edge to compete on field set the bar for where we are heading as a club, with performance now at the forefront of our strategy.”
The South Adelaide Football Club congratulates Oscar and Ollie on their appointments and looks forward to the 2026 season.
