The South Adelaide Women’s League team have an uncharacteristic off day as North Adelaide put up a fight.

In Round 9 the Women’s League team was convincing getting a win, looking at the Round 10 matchup it was a struggling North Adelaide, but anything can happen in a game of footy, so they weren’t to be taken lightly.

In the first term North were dominant hitting the score board hard with two majors while South were unable to do any scoring damage ending with a single point.

It was clear that the contests around the ground were going to be rough, bringing on plenty of congestion.

Despite the lack of scoring Taylah Levy was looking good, ending the game with 19 disposals.

Looking at the second term it was a lot of the same as North were able to add another major score while the league team were only able to kick the one minor score.

North was hitting the switch well and the Panthers weren’t able to cut it off, making it hard to rebound as they usually do so well.

At half time South were down by 18 points, a big lift was needed as the league team was looking off.

In the third quarter the breakthrough the team was looking for would arise as Lucy Northcott would kick the first Panther goal of the game early in the term.

After a wobbly ball would fly into the goal square an unlucky bounce would lead the ball towards the behind post, but Northcott was crafty, stooping the footy before it could roll through, picking up, shrugging off the defender and putting it through for a major score.

Unfortunately, North Adelaide would manage to add another two major scores making it incredibly challenging for the women to make a comeback in the fourth term.

The Panthers were having a hard time using the ball all day as all the passing lanes were clogged by a brutal North defence, causing a constant stream of stoppages around the ground.

In the fourth quarter with the game on the line the Panthers were only able to contribute two minor scores, meaning the league team would receive their second loss of the season.

After the great news of another finals berth for the panthers, it was a sour note for sure.

With the race for top spot getting tighter, a win over Sturt in Round 11 at Wigan Oval on Saturday afternoon would go a long way in helping the Panthers lock up top spot.
