Development squad continues impressive hot streak and the league team get back in the winning column.

Last week was a tough pill to swallow for the Women’s league team after losing to Central Districts. A response was needed, and the Panther girls delivered and some.

Heading into the game it was not going to be a push over. North Adelaide was ready to bring the intensity, so it was sure to be a challenging day for the league team in windy conditions.

Within one minute of play North were already on the scoreboard with a major score, leaving the girls on the backfoot.

A reply was needed, and it was Indy Tahau who held onto an impressive grab in front of goal.

The calm and composed Tahau kicked the much-needed major score.

Some immaculate forward and midfield pressure kept the ball in South’s attacking fifty and it wasn’t long until gun Lily Baxter would kick the next major score.

Headed into the second term with small lead it was evident that North were not going to away without a fight.

After a rushed kick attempt from the North Adelaide defence Caitlyn Radbone was able to swoop in a kick the first and only south goal of the term.

The rest of the quarter was dominated by Jaslynne Smith who would go on to finish the game with 26 disposals.

Having a mere 3-point lead going into the third it was proving to be a close contest.

Luckily for the Panthers Baxter was ready to strike again managing to kick a snap for goal.

It again became a back-and-forth tussle until the next major score. It was Melissa Anderson who in the 20thminute with time running low kicked her first SANFLW goal on debut.

South would go on to kick one more for the game, with Laquoiya Cockatoo-Motlap sealing the deal against North Adelaide.

A strong performance throughout and it was evident the skill of South Adelaide’s goal kicking was vital in getting the win as North Adelaide struggled near goal all game.

Next week the South Adelaide Women’s league team look on to their next opponent top of the table partner’s Glenelg, which is sure to be an interesting game.

Last week the Development Squad put on a display for the ages by keeping Central District scoreless and going on to have 50 points in the game.

But North Adelaide were going to be tough, and all sights were scoped in on them. Faced with temperate conditions, the stage was set.

The girls continued on from last week’s form by kicking four first quarter goals.

The siege was started from Bella Rigby’s explosive right boot from a set shot in front of goal.

It wouldn’t be long after until the next major score would arise. This time it was Abby Woodward from a tough angle on the run.

South went on to concede a goal and made sure to fire back quickly. Hannah Murdoch after a high tackle left her in scoring range slotted one through.

Before anyone could even blink the Panthers were back in the forward fifty, some impressive ball movement streaming forward saw the ball end up with Skye Kartinyeri-Sumner who bagged an impressive goal on the run close to the boundary.

Having a convincing lead after one quarter wasn’t enough, a theme this squad is getting well known for.

Heading into the second quarter another major score came along swiftly. It was Seraphina Moon while being dragged to the ground who would get the kick off and give the squad a healthy start.

After this it became a battle for the footy as South weren’t able to hit the scoreboard with another major score.

The efforts from Sarah Wright and Nari Wright were nothing short of exceptional throughout and were a pivotal reason the development squad were able to hold on to the victory.

The Panthers could take another big step to securing a top two finish, which would see them play off in the Development League Grand Final, if they get the points against Glenelg.
