Sunday sees the South Adelaide Reserves finish off their 2020 season with a hard-fought 13-point loss against North Adelaide at Flinders University Stadium.

The sixth-placed Panthers managed to match it throughout the day with the finals-placed Roosters, but experience proved to be biggest difference as they fell to a 10.7 (67) to 12.8 (80) defeat.

With five players recalled for the league side, the Panthers found some strong contributors through Tyler Davies as well as pathway duo of Marcus Lippett and Lachlan Williams.

But it was hard for South Adelaide to get any momentum throughout the game with the exception of the opening term was the side had a late surge to head into the first change with a 3.1 (19) to 2.0 (12) lead.

However, after the first change the remainder of the match would prove to be a shootout, with the visitors piling on ten goals to the Panthers seven. To the Panthers credit, the side piled on four final term goals to bring the lead within three straight kicks but by then the damage was already done.

Daniel Sladojevic enjoyed a strong return with some classy goals, while Lee Hoey gave the Panthers some great composure around the ground.

But the play of the day would come in the dying seconds as the Encounter Bay product Tarik Illingworth was able to collect the ball in the pocket, dodge around his opponents on the boundary line, and snap truly on the run to give the South Adelaide Reserves a fitting goal to end their hard-fought 2020 season.

It was a tough season for the Reserves, as the club were at times having to contend while having 18 unavailable players and were forced to bring in local players to fill in. But despite this, the side were still able to finish the season in sixth place.
