New Interchange Benches at Magain Stadium
South Adelaide Football Club Unveils New Interchange Benches at Magain Stadium
South Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce the completion and commissioning of its new interchange benches at Magain Stadium.
Part funded by a $250,000 grant from Round 2 of the SA Football Facilities Fund, the new benches are the latest milestone in the club’s long-term Masterplan to upgrade player and precinct facilities.
The new plastic seating, installed ahead of the weekend’s matches, completes the interchange upgrade and is now fully operational. The improvements deliver:
- Improved player facilities with modern, durable interchange seating.
- Enhanced spectator experience with an unrestricted view from the undercover western wing.
- Seamless integration with the stadium precinct and the club’s broader redevelopment program.
This project was delivered through a collaborative partnership between Place Project Management, Alliance Commercial (builders) and Walter Brooke (architects). Their combined expertise ensured the works were completed on time and to specification.
The interchange benches form part of South Adelaide’s previously announced Masterplan, which outlines a comprehensive investment in the club and precinct:
- Total Masterplan investment: $13.65 million for new player facilities; $5.4 million for precinct upgrades including 1000 lux oval lighting; $7.72 million for bistro and function space improvements.
Election commitment: The re-elected Federal Government has pledged $5 million to deliver a High Performance Centre at Magain Stadium and to refurbish the existing changerooms as gender-neutral facilities.
- Collaborative projects: In 2023, a $450,000 oval lighting project was delivered in partnership with Cardijn College and SANFL, including an electronic scoreboard and backing nets.
- Philanthropic support: Redarc Electronics fully funded the club’s new Sportal scoreboard, enhancing the game-day experience for all grades of football.
- Facility upgrades: $2 million in State Government funding to install a new irrigation system and develop a female-friendly changeroom beneath the Jim Deane Grandstand.
The club is continuing its discussions with all levels of Government to bring the masterplan to life and to support State-level matches, training, community use and elite pathways.
