Panthers Racing Syndicate

22 November 2025

Lifelong Panthers supporter Brenton Parker the breeder of YEE-OH reacquainting at trainer Will Clarkens Aldinga Property.

Peter McIntyre had a distinguished career playing 133 games as tall forward/ruck. He played from the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s. ‘PeterMc’ joined the PP&O Committee two years ago. One of the key functions of this group is to reconnect past players and officials.

Having spent nearly 30 years in the thoroughbred horse racing industry, PeterMc proposed an idea: to reach out to PP&O members and gauge interest in establishing a horse owner syndicate. The response was amazing; 39 PP&O members are now part-owners of this horse. The syndicate has been named Panthers Racing Syndicate.

PeterMc (Gameday TBS) assembled an incredible team, starting with breeders Brenton and Liz Parker, famed for breeding Group 1 winners Benedatta and Happy Trails; both lifelong passionate South Adelaide supporters. The horse is trained by Will Clarken and Niki O’Shea, South Australia’s proven black-type and Group 1 winning training duo, assisted by Lachie Weekley (Racing Manager), John Kelton (Form Analyst), and Richard Adam (Data Analyst).

The group’s first task was to find a suitable horse for the syndicate. They purchased a quality 2-year-old filly by Hanseatic (sire) x Tchotchke (dam). Will, Niki, and their team have put the filly through a full preparation, including education and jump-outs. She was sent out to the paddock last week for a spell, with plans to return to prep in February 2026 and hopefully, make her racing debut at some point in this prep; very exciting!

A name has been selected and registered - Yee-Oh!

Die-hard Panthers will recognise this name. For those who aren’t familiar, the amazing story which traces back to the horse-and-cart days of the early 1900s when the players headed to Alberton on horse and cart. A chaff store half way down the Port Road, was run by an Ernest Isaac Yeo was an important watering stop for horse drawn wagons using the Port Road. So this was the spot where the cry of Yee - Oh! was first used by the men from South to remind the driver to stop whenever they approached the store and watering hole.

The silks will feature a combination of blue and white panels and hoops, representing various guernseys over time, with our founding year, 1876 subtly imprinted on the front and back.

Go Yee-Oh!
