Mark Clayton Departs as Talent Manager and Under-18 Coach.
South Adelaide Football Club today announces that Talent Manager and Under-18 Coach Mark Clayton has accepted a new opportunity within the football industry.
After eight years with the Panthers, Mark leaves having made a significant and lasting impact on the Club’s junior pathway and on-field performance.
Throughout his tenure, he strengthened the Club’s talent pathway and daily development programs, helping shape a new generation of footballers. His work played an important role in the rise of talented players such as Jason Horne-Francis, Brayden Cook, Sid Draper, Beau McCreery and Matt Roberts, among many others.
One of his standout achievements came in 2023 when he coached the Under-18 side to a premiership, a testament to the strong culture and standards he helped instill.
Reflecting on his time at the Club, Mark said he was grateful for his time at the club.
“I am extremely grateful for the opportunities, experiences and relationships I’ve had at South Adelaide." Said Clayton
"Working with such a passionate group of players, staff and volunteers has been a privilege. I’m proud of what we achieved together, and especially of the 2023 Under-18 premiership team. I thank everyone who has supported me and the players over the years.”
South Adelaide CEO Neill Sharpe paid tribute to Mark’s contribution.
“Mark’s commitment to developing young footballers is unparalleled. He has a rare ability to get the best out of his players and to build teams that compete every week. We are sad to see him leave but fully support his move as the next phase of his career.”
The Club extends its best wishes to Mark, Alicia, Gracy and Ziggy for the future, and will now commence the process of appointing his successor.
