Jordann Rugless has informed the club that she will call time on her SANFLW career.

Rugless made her debut for the Panthers in Round 9 of the 2021 season as player number 82, joining South Adelaide through the club’s connection with the Pinktails.

Due to living arrangements, Rugless made the move to the Eagles in 2022, where she played 11 games before returning to South Adelaide ahead of the 2023 season.

In her second season back at the club in 2024, Rugless was voted Vice Captain and played a key role in South Adelaide’s premiership campaign. She produced a best on ground performance in the 2024 Grand Final against Norwood at The Parade. She was also named in the 2024 The Advertiser Team of the year, capping off an incredible year. 

Rugless was named Captain in 2025 and selected in the SANFLW State Squad, but was unable to play due to injury. She later missed the second half of the season, including the Grand Final, following the birth of her son, Jed.

Determined to return to football, Rugless made her comeback in Round 7 of the 2026 season. Her final appearance came in South Adelaide’s Round 12 loss to the Eagles.

Across her SANFLW career, Rugless played 52 games and kicked 29 goals.

Reflecting on her time at South Adelaide, Rugless said she was incredibly grateful for the opportunities, friendships and memories the club had given her.

"I’m forever grateful to have had the opportunity to play at South. What started through the Pinktails connection, and playing as a fly-in at the back end of 2021 season, eventually led to me living in Adelaide and getting the chance to return to South from 2023 through to the remainder of my career. It’s been a journey I’ll always be incredibly grateful for." Said Rugless

"It’s the people at the club who made my experience what it was. From the staff and coaches to my teammates, there was always a genuine care for one another. I’ve made some lifelong friendships through the club, and that’s something I’ll value long after footy."

"Winning the 2024 premiership will always be a highlight of my career. There’s no better feeling than winning a flag alongside some of your best mates."

"My goal was to always come back and play after having my son, Jed, and I’m really proud that I was able to do that. But coming back also gave me a different perspective on life and what’s important to me. For a long time, footy was my main priority, but as I’ve got older and after becoming a mum my mindset has shifted. My family is now my main priority, and I want to be able to enjoy all those little moments with them."

I know footy will always be a part of my life in some way. Whether that’s as a supporter, or at some stage getting back involved in the game in another capacity, I know it’s something that will always be close to my heart."

South Adelaide Female Football Manager Jonathon Parker praised Rugless for the impact she has had on the club and the standards she helped establish throughout her career.

"We thank Jordy for everything she has given to the club throughout her time at South," Parker said.

"She is an incredible person and the commitment she has shown to the club has been outstanding. Jordy has continually helped drive the standards of our program and has played an important role in our success over the last few years."
