The South Adelaide Football Club is thrilled to welcome Tom Wheaton back to Magain Stadium for the 2027 Hostplus SANFL League season.

Wheaton returns to the Panthers after spending the 2026 season in Nhill, Victoria, following a move for work commitments.

During his time away, the 20 year old enjoyed a successful stint with the Nhill & District Sporting Club Tigers, playing a pivotal role in their 2026 Senior Premiership.

Wheaton produced a standout performance, booting four goals to earn best on ground honours in the Grand Final.

Now, with his sights set on returning to SANFL football, Wheaton is excited to be back at his home club as the Panthers enter a new era.

"I'm really excited and grateful to have the opportunity to return to my home club." Wheaton said.

"South Adelaide has always meant a lot to me, so I'm looking forward to getting back out there with some of my closest mates."

"It's an exciting time for the club and I can't wait to get to work with Monty and the rest of the playing group."

South Adelaide General Manager of Football Brent Reilly said the club was delighted to secure Wheaton's return ahead of the 2027 season.

"We're really excited to welcome Tom back to South Adelaide for 2027." Reilly said.

"Tom is a quality person who knows what this club is about, and we're thrilled to have him back as we enter an exciting new chapter."

"He's already shown he has the ability to not only compete, but thrive at League level. His versatility will give us plenty of options around the ground, and we're confident he can make a strong contribution to the side."

Wheaton's return also strengthens his family's connection to the Panthers, with younger brother Archie having represented South Adelaide in the Under 16s during the 2026 season.
