South Adelaide Welcomes Seamus Mitchell

The South Adelaide Football Club is delighted to welcome Seamus Mitchell to Magain Stadium ahead of the 2026 season.

Mitchell arrives at the Panthers after playing 28 AFL games for Hawthorn since making his debut in 2023.

He was taken as pick #6 in 2022 as a Rookie Elevation and quickly made an impact at the top level.

Mitchell earned a NAB Rising Star nomination in round 17 of the 2023 season following a standout performance against the Giants, collecting 20 disposals including six contested possessions and five intercept possessions at 70 per cent efficiency.

Mitchell said he is thrilled to be joining South Adelaide in 2026.

"I'm super excited and grateful to be joining South Adelaide as I think the young and talented group are heading in the right direction, it's obviously a huge year for the whole club so hopefully we can build something special." said Mitchell

"i hope to look to attack the game and use my speed and ball use, but also be reliable defensively and get my job done"

Senior Coach Jarrad Wright is equally excited about adding Mitchell to the Panthers defensive group.

"We’re rapt to bring Seamus to the club." Said Wright

"He’s a tough resilient defender who uses the ball well and will provide real drive out of defence. Having spent the past five years in a strong AFL program, he adds valuable experience and performance to our team."
