South Adelaide Announce their 2026 Guernsey line up

As part of the club’s 150th year celebrations, the South Adelaide Football Club is proud to unveil the guernseys that will be worn throughout the 2026 Hostplus SANFL and SANFLW seasons.

South Adelaide has held its colours longer than any other club, wearing blue and white from its formation in 1876.

In the early days, when football in South Australia was still finding its feet, the Panthers wore the traditional blue and white hoops. This design remained until 1913, before the club spent the next 13 years experimenting with a range of unique looks.

It was in 1926 when the iconic white SA monogram first appeared in the centre of the jumper.

Over the following 30 years, the club’s look continued to evolve, including a return to the full hoop design in the 1950s. One of the Panthers’ most iconic players, Jim Deane, wore this jumper during his time at the club.

In 1964, the SA monogram returned to the middle of the chest, becoming South Adelaide’s primary design right through to the present day. More recently, due to jumper clashes, the club reintroduced the hoops as its clash guernsey in 2014.

The clash guernsey will feature an inverted design based on the club’s original jumper, with thinner hoops and a central line that references the laces of early football jumpers.

For Round 2 against traditional rivals Port Adelaide, when South Adelaide officially celebrates its 150th year, the Panthers will wear a special design inspired by the club’s 1960s guernsey. This jumper will include printed laces to recreate the traditional look and feel.

In 2026, the Panthers will proudly wear the 150 year logo on their iconic navy home guernsey for the entire season.

The Panthers SANFLW side will also wear guernseys grounded in the club’s heritage. In jumper clashes, they will wear a full hoop design similar to what the club wore in the 1950s. It is also a throwback to the SANFLW team’s main jumper from 2019 to 2020 and their clash guernsey from 2021 to 2023.

For games without clash, the SANFLW team will wear the iconic navy jumper with white trim, offering a subtle nod to the club’s past.

Both the SANFL and SANFLW teams will once again wear the Redtails and Pinktails guernsey designed by Doreena Hansen for First Nations Round in SANFL Round 7 and SANFLW Round 5.

South Adelaide CEO Neill Sharpe is thrilled to see the club honour its history in such a meaningful way.

“It is really important that, as we celebrate 150 years, we can wear jumpers that acknowledge where we have come from while still looking ahead,” Sharpe said.
“It is a massive year for the club. With our men’s team looking to take the next step and our women’s team chasing history, I encourage everyone to get involved in what promises to be a special season.”

Match worn jumpers from the club’s 150th year game will be auctioned, with further details to be announced.
