BETTA Team Selection: Round 18 Juniors v North Adelaide

It is a big weekend for our junior sides, with the Under-18s playing for the annual Sammy D Medal in their final match of the season, while the Under-16s can secure a double chance with a win over the Roosters.

The Sammy D Medal honours the memory of South Adelaide junior Sam Davis, whose life was tragically cut short in 2008 following an unprovoked one punch assault.

Following Sam's death, the Sammy D Foundation was established to help educate young people about the consequences of violence and to create safer communities through programs focused on positive decision making, respect and responsibility.

When the Under-18s take on North Adelaide on Saturday, the Sammy D Medal will be awarded to the Panthers player who best demonstrates the qualities of spirit, courage and commitment throughout the match.

The medal has become a meaningful part of the Under-18s season, recognising not only performance on the field, but the character and values shown by the player throughout the contest.
