South Adelaide kicked off Season 2023 in style with both the League and Development Teams taking the win over Sturt.

From the first minutes the Panther’s looked dominant with Soriah Moon booting the opening goal in her first game back after an ACL injury in 2022.

Familiar faces in Lucy Northcott and Jorja Hooper combined with new faces in Lily Baxter  and Pinktail recruit Kyanne Campbell to prove powerful up forward.

A strong run down from Jaslynne Smith and tackle from Esther Schirmer and assistance from fellow debutant Bella Rigby made it hard for the Double Blues in their forward half.

The Panther’s fourth debutant Charlotte Dolan looked at home in the midfield of Flinders University Stadium. WhileHooper looked like she hadn’t missed any football with strong marks on the wing and dominant fend-offs. Senna Golden proved her importance throughout the midfield collecting 21 disposals and 11 tackles.

The second half saw the Panther’s continue their form with an early goal from Kyanne Campbell in the third and Northcott in the fourth.

A late charge from the Double Blues wasn’t enough with the Panthers remaining cool, calm and collected under pressure taking home the two points.

The day started with a highly congested game of football for the Development League where midfielders shone through in a game of back and forth.

Caitlin Radbone and new Tasmanian recruit Elise Barwick looked dominant throughout the game providing plenty of run and carry.

It took until the second quarter for the Panthers to appear on the score bored with Lauren Clifton   finishing off a play set up by Caitlin Radbone.

The Panthers took a six point lead into half time which was doubled by Nicole Mark quickly in the third. Which was followed by a late goal from the Double Blues to bring the margin down to five points.

Barwick’s goal early in the fourth sealed the game for the Panthers.
