The Under-16s and Under-18s make it look easy as they put their foot down against West Adelaide.

Glenelg were too strong for the Under-18s last week adding another loss for the squad; however, a new round means new opportunities. With West Adelaide next up to the plate it was going to be a challenge.

Lining up in perfect conditions the boys were ready to go.

In the first term the boys wanted to put their mark on the game early and Dakota Sterzl delivered picking up the ball swiftly, adjusting and kicking a booming goal from 50-metres out on the run.

There was a sense of determination from the under-18s hitting the ball hard early in the contest.

After the early goal the panthers provided, they went to kick four more in the term.

First of these was Phoenix Hargrave with a classy kick from 50-metres out making it look effortless.

Sid Draper shortly after from a set shot 30-metres out, Jake Agnew in the same vein scoring from a set shot just outside the square and Nicholas Schroder with a set shot from 20-metres out as the siren went.

It was becoming a high scoring affair, and this continued in the second term with the under-18s adding five more.

Jack Delean started the train with his set shot from 45-metres out.

Followed by Jay Chapman on the slight angle with a set shot 30-metres out. Before anyone could blink it was back forward with Benny Barrett after the panthers went coast-to-coast, with his goal coming from a quick pick up and kick.

The next goal scorers were both adding to their game with a second goal. It was Jake Agnew who slotted his kick while flying into the square, followed by Jack Delean in the dying seconds of the quarter when his set shot from 30-metres out was good.

After a half of football, it seemed like the under-18s were going to build a major lead, but it stayed close for the rest of the game.

In the third term the panthers went to work early once again kicking a few quickly. Oliver Goss got his set shot to sail through then it was followed right after by Ryan Pearsons incredible goal off a step from 45-metres.

The lead was quickly tightened by West Adelaide’s swift three major scores. With a urge of desperation the panthers added another late as Jake Agnew was wanting to kick his third, getting his late term set shot to go through.

As the contest was ending it had to be ensured that the pressure wouldn’t let up as West Adelaide were relentless.

Sebastian Oliver was aware of this, delivering an impactful goal within the first minute of the fourth quarter. In spectacular fashion the set shot from 50-metres out was pure going straight through.

It was evident that the under-18s were starting to tire but the star showing from Sid Draper wasn’t going to be disrespected as he garnered a whooping 32 disposals and 7 marks.

Jack’s third goal of the contest was a set shot on a wide angle, making it effortlessly.

The panthers went and got a clean clearance zipping it around and getting it back in Jack Delean’s hands on the boundary line. Despite the tough angle the kick was smooth sealing the game for the under-18s

It was a hard-fought contest, and it would give the squad some confidence after a shaky start.

The under-18s will face West Adelaide again on the 29th at Hisense Stadium from 12:15pm.

After the tough last contest which saw the Under-16s go down to Glenelg it was time for the panthers to bounce back.

In immaculate conditions it was time for a statement to be made.

During the early minutes of the term, it was clear that it was going to be a close fought game with neither side being able to kick a major.

It would be Cain Florance who would draw first blood, reading the high bounce and making his defender look foolish, wheeling onto his preferred foot and kicking the goal.

This was the only south major of the term, saving their legs for a flurry in the second.

In the second term the Under-16s would kick four goals, building a convincing lead.

The first of these was Hudson Voigt after he would fight through the contact and snap it through the goals on the tight angle.

Cain Florance would also kick his second and third major in the second quarter. His second was from a quick pick up and run-on kick from 35-metres out directly in front.

Then striking again after he would break his defender on the mark and unleash from 40-metres out.

Before the term would close out Kodah Edwards get on the end of a contested football near the boundary line, straightening up and snapping with purpose, guiding the ball through moments before the siren went.

Looking at the third quarter it was a similar display, adding another four goals in the term.

Kodah Edwards kicked his second early after his set shot from a 25-metre angle was pure.

The next three scores would come from Patrick Carman with his set shot from 40 meters, Noah Kliems Carlaw while on the run from 25-metres out and Hudson Voigt after he got the ball from the back of a pack and followed with a goal on the run.

With the game all but secured the under-16s added three more goals in the fourth quarter.

Each of the majors coming from new scorers. It was Brodie Bretones at first who would come up big as his goal on the run would make it through.

Then it was Thomas Renshaw kicking the next as his pickup off the deck was silky and the finish following that same theme, with the kick sailing through for another south goal.

The last major was kicked by Max Savage just in front of the goal square, with the set shot easily going through.

At the end of the game, it was evident that Jesse Nye had a big one finishing with 28 disposals, 8 marks and 7 tackles.

The Under-16s got the job done with ease and will face West Adelaide again on the 29th at Hisense Stadium from 10:00am.
