Round 13 - Coopers Stadium - 19/09/20
Goals: Cook 5, Roberts 2, Hamilton, Birt, Snelling
Best: Roberts, Cook, Spacie, Flett, Birt, Le Raye
A strong start wasn't enough for the South Adelaide Under-18s as they fell to a 25-point loss against Norwood at Coopers Stadium on Saturday.
The Panthers booted six first quarter goals but would only go onto register another four majors for the rest of the match, falling to a 10.9 (69) to 14.10 (94) against the second placed Redlegs.
The stats are reflected in the final score, with both sides having equal chances with the Panthers narrowly losing the inside 50 count 44 to 48, but winning the hit outs 31 to 26.
Both Brayden Cook (13 disposals) and Mathew Roberts (31 disposals) led the way for the Panthers, kicking two goals each to give South Adelaide a 6.2 (38) to 0.3 (3) lead at the first change.
But the second term saw the home side take advantage of the scoring end, as the Redlegs booted five unanswered goals within the first seventeen minutes of the quarter.
Liam Hamilton was able to help steady the side, while Cook's third goal of the day gave the Panthers a narrow 14-point lead at halftime.
However, this lead would prove far too little as Norwood would go onto boot eight goals during the second half while the Panthers only managed two both of which came from Cook.
The 10.9 (69) to 14.10 (94) defeat sees the Panthers slip to fourth on the ladder, and equal to their next opponent who sits just outside of the top four.
And South Adelaide will clash with North Adelaide in a must-win match at Prospect Oval on Saturday September 26, from 1:25pm.
