Our Under-18's lost their second game in a row this weekend in a tough 8.9 (57) to 16.12 (102) hit out with the Eagles at Woodville.

After the disappointment of few injuries last week, the positive was we were able to reward Mackenzie Short, Clinton Calyun, Henry Kerrison, Mani Draper and Under-16 Nicholas Kraemer with their first game at Under-18 level.

In good Conditions this week, we again travelled to Woodville Oval to play the Eagles.

We knew it was going to be a tough day, but we came out with a good attitude and started well.

However, it did seem that every time we kicked a goal we let the Eagles kick one straight away.

When Sam Renney kicked his second goal of the quarter we were happy to go into the break with an eight-point lead

The second quarter went much the same, as we went goal for goal until the last two and a half minutes where we were able to kick consecutive goals through Renney and first gamer Draper, which put us 15 points up going into the main break.

Our third Quarter started poorly, allowing Eagles to kick three goals in the space of four minutes to take the lead and didn't get much better after that .

We struggled to get our hands on the ball and when we did we couldn't get it out of our backline.

The last quarter was worse than the third with the Eagles kicking 5.7 and us not being able to kick a goal.

I am sure we will learn plenty from the game and be better next time.

On a positive note Damon Freitag played his best game for the year, Renney is starting to find some good form and getting rewarded for his hard work and Tate Lovering has been very good since starting to play more through the midfield.

Next week we have a bye before playing Sturt at home in Round 9 over the long weekend (11am start, Saturday, June 9).
